A reminder of creating bio pages for the folks mentioned here written specifically from an evolutionary spirituality view, and including links to the more general Wikipedia entries.
I have some confusion about this wiki. "How participatory is the wiki intended to be?"

"Participatory" could mean:

* "We've chosen some activities that you can perform with us on the wiki, and we invite you to participate with us in those activities."

* "We hope that you will fill in the details, within the organization of pages that we have made. We build the frame, and we would appreciate it if you would fill in the details."

* "We want to engage in an open ended dialog with the general public. [http://communitywiki.org/SelectivelyOpenMinded We have some things that we are decided upon, but we're open to new ideas, that we do not already hold, as well.] Hang out with us, work on the wiki here with us, perhaps make a few pages, and we'll feel out how we fit together."

* "Got a thought on evolutionary spirituality, for, against, sidewise, in development of the concept..? Come talk with us! We'll see how things fit. Feel free to make your own pages, or whatever."

== Reorganization of Main Page ==
From other pages, I think you mean the 3rd, but based on this prominant paragaph on the [[Main Page]], it seems very different: ''"This is '''part of a larger evolutionary spirituality movement / awakening,''' that will include many local community groups and living-room groups in which people are supporting each other in learning about and living into a meaningful (sacred) relationship to the evolutionary perspective offered by the full range of sciences. We envision the wiki primarily as a co-evolutionary tool '''for those people,''' generating an Encyclopedia of Evolutionary Spirituality and guide for living an evolutionary spiritual life. As the movement grows, we expect link it to Drupal-based software for ongoing movement activities.''

Also a question regarding the look & feel of the Main Page.
This is '''extremely''' unclear, and gives me, as someone who attended the Evolutionary Salon 2, pause.

My impression is that it is somewhat disorganized right now, and could benefit from some reorganization and cleaning up.
If you want the wiki to be relatively "open," but you don't want people who are antagonistic to what you are doing, then I would choose more informal language, and I would emphasize the openness more than the closedness.

We could also consider (when we are ready) to include a link to a featured article.
Here's what I would put instead:

"This wiki is part of a larger evolutionary spirituality movement, which itself is part of a still larger movement and awakening at work in society. The evolutionary spirituality movement includes many local community groups and living-room groups in which people are supporting each other in learning about and living into a meaningful (sacred) relationship to the evolutionary perspective offered by the full range of sciences. We want this wiki to be used as a co-evolutionary tool for teaching, communicating, and learning for practicioners within the evolutionary spirituality movement, sympathetic scientists in the world at large, and the interested, general public. We dream to compile an Encyclopedia of Evolutionary Spirituality, and a friendly guide for living an evolutionary spiritual life."

=== Suggestion for reorganization ===
This presentation, I think, is more humble (it does not suggest that the Evolutionary Spirituality movement is at the heart of the social awakening that is happening right now,) service oriented, clear about what the evolutionary spirituality movement is, makes clear the role of the general public (ie that they are invited to teach, communicate, and learn,) and that you want to compile something like an Encyclopedia and a guide.

There are now three groups of links:
Actually, this paragraph says a bit too much. I'd make pages for the individual concepts, and link to them from a shorter paragraph..!

# Articles on key concepts
: ''Thanks for your feedback, Lion. I've revised the front page to (hopefully) have it sound less in-groupy and more welcoming of participation outside of our boxes. I used 95% of your proposed paragraph (I'm not sure how to make it a shorter paragraph with links to individual concepts, but I invite your attempt), as well as other changes, including to the subtitle, the purpose, and the invitation under the table of contents. There is a bit of dynamic tension in all this, because the original idea for this wiki (at least in my mind and discussions with Michael Dowd) was explicitly for the use and benefit of those who self-identify as being part of (or at least attracted to) the evolutionary spirituality movement. Exactly how open we were planning to be was not discussed, and we're still feeling our way. We want to make sure to have some kind of structure in which to work out evolving statements of "what we believe"; and for that, there needs to be a sense of "we". Part of doing that well is making space to clarify and publicize substantive differences as well as emerging consensus.'' -- [[User:Tomatlee|Tomatlee]] 05:00, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Reorganization of Main Page[]

Also a question regarding the look & feel of the Main Page.

My impression is that it is somewhat disorganized right now, and could benefit from some reorganization and cleaning up.

We could also consider (when we are ready) to include a link to a featured article.

Suggestion for reorganization[]

There are now three groups of links:

  1. Articles on key concepts
  2. How-to and discussion links (now partly overlapping with those on the Community Portal)
  3. Links to the main sections of the ES wiki

I suggest...

  • Keeping no. 1 (key concepts links) at the top of the page.
  • Bring no. 3 (main section links) up to the top.
  • The how-to and discussion links could be included in a brief intro and welcome text.
  • The main intro text could come below all this.
